Begin your journey towards a healthy well behaved canine good citizen. We offer group classes, private lessons and behavior modification using force-free and fear-free methods. Services include a unique puppy parenting program, guidance for adolescent dogs, and practice for passing AKC’s Canine Good Citizen test

Angela Murray

Director of training

Angela has over 25 years of experience teaching canine parenting classes, private lessons and working with canine behavioral problems using up-to-date, force-free, fear free techniques. In 2009 and 2012 She became certified through the only national known council for professional dog trainers (ccpdt.org) and now teaches a college prep course for those interested in acquiring this certification. Angela has been a mentor for the Animal Behavior College & CATCH Training Academy and became a Nutritional Pet Care Specialist through DNM University in 2017. She believes in nurturing dogs to be physically and mentally healthy. In 1998 she was an intern that conducted observational canine research at Wolf Park in Battle Ground, IN, has served on the board of the Fox Valley Therapy Club and is an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. Angela currently shares her home with her high school sweetheart, their two sons, two Australian Shepherds and a cat.

Group Training Classes

PUPPY PRIMER

This 4 week class covers the basics your puppy needs:

Potty training, mouthiness, crate training, handling and management

Introduction to basic life skills such as sit, down, come and leave-it

Relationship building exercises

PUPPY PARENTING
12 Week Program at the Fox Valley Park District

The 12 week parenting program gives you the foundation needed to prepare your puppies first two years of life.

Socialization, Motor Skills, Health and Wellness, Emergency evaluation, potty training, mouthiness, crate training, handling & management, basic & intermediate commands, body language, puppy socials, relationship and building exercises.

12 Week program

COST: $350

PUPPY PARENTING
6 Week Program

The 6 week parenting program gives your puppy the basic foundation it needs for life. Included in this class:

 introduction to basic life skills including sit, down, stand, leave-it, not to jump, come, and walking along with some practice.

 

Also includes potty training, mouthiness, crate training, handling and management. Motor skill development as well as socialization to everyday objects and noises

6 Week program

COST: $130

PUPPY CONTINUING

There are two options to choose from:

6 WEEKS - COST $130

For any puppy that did a 6 week puppy class anywhere. Build on skills taught, polite greeting, discouraging  jumping, food bowl etiquette, impulse control and management of typical adolescent behaviors.

4 WEEKS - COST $100

For puppies who completed the 4 week puppy primer. Build on skills taught while learning new skills such as, walking, stay, polite greeting and the discouragement of  jumping.

PUPPY CONTINUING

Bring your 11-16 week old puppy to interact with toys, other puppies, people, obstacles and sounds. This is an unstructured supervised time for puppies to feel safe to explore with their families. Space is limited. Free to those enrolled in the 12 week puppy program.

PUPPY SOCIALS

PUPPY SOCIALS
 

Interested in doing therapy work with your dog? This class will go through all 10 steps needed to pass the CGC test. Passing this test is the first step to becoming a therapy dog team.

AKC’s CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PREP CLASS

COST: $120

AKC’s CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PREP CLASS
INTERMEDIATE PARENTING

Dog parents who want to practice skills that have already been taught. Parents looking to passing the Canine Good Citizen Test will continue to practice in this class until ready for the CGC class.


PREREQUISITE

 12 week puppy program or the 6 week adolescent parenting class. 

 

All dogs stay in this class until ready for
the CGC prep class

Practice of skills already taught with goals of mastering, generalizing, maintaining and phasing out food. Along with those interested in passing the CGC test.

INTERMEDIATE

PARENTING

ADOLESCENT PARENTING

Many dogs are given up during this stage due to the lack of support and education that is needed to navigate common behaviors. Teenage dogs ages 6-12 months will be taught polite greeting, stay, not to pull on leash, impulse control, and basic cues. Adolescent parents will learn how to manage counter surfing, digging, talking back, and not listening along with providing appropriate mental and physical outlets for their teenage dog.
