Shannon Witt

Director of Nutrition

Shannon Witt has worked in the pet industry for 18 years; she was a Veterinary Practice Manager for over 10 & has been feeding her dogs a raw diet for the last decade. After the cancer diagnosis of her 9 yr. old dog Bebe 3 years ago, she began formulating her own balanced raw diet & has watched her not only survive cancer but thrive and become healthier than she has been in years.  Shannon has 4 certifications in Pet Nutrition as well as a Clinical Pet Nutrition certification and is studying Homeopathy & Herbalism. She has a passion for helping dogs live their best, healthiest life possible & her dream is to see dogs return to their ancestral lifespan of 15 – 20 years, not the 8 – 11 they are currently expected to live.

“I think of nutrition like building a house. You cannot build a stable, sturdy house without a strong foundation. Nutrition is the foundation needed to build a strong, sturdy, resilient pet. You cannot make quality repairs to your house without the right tools. Nutritional components are the right tools to repair many illnesses, injuries & neurological issues.”

The Impact of Nutrition

Statistically, dogs have more metabolic disease & life threatening illnesses than any other species on the planet. In the last 20 years we've seen a drastic decrease in overall health. 1 in 2 will get cancer, 1 in 3 are obese, 70% will have periodontal disease by age 2,  1 in 10 will have kidney or liver disease, 1 in 3 suffers from chronic allergies & infections & their lifespan in general has been reduced by an average of 5 years!

I think we can all agree that this is unacceptable BUT, when we know better, we can do better!

45% of hereditary predispositions or chronic illness can be prevented or controlled with proper nutrition & just making some simple changes can reduce the risk of cancer by 90% & add 2 years onto their life!

We are as passionate about our dogs health as we are about yours, so let's get started!

If you are curious about the nutritional quality of your dog’s current diet we can evaluate it using our 40 point system. Nutritional boosters may be recommended in order to enhance your current diet. Sometimes boosting  recommendations are not enough and a more in-depth consultation may be needed. A thorough food evaluation can tell you:

1. What the biological value of the food is to your dog

2. The true level of nutritional completeness

3. What’s missing or lacking

4. Ingredients that may be harmful to your pet

5. What foods may be a better option

COST: $35*

If you are concerned about your pet’s overall health, or if they have been diagnosed with a common medical condition, we can help get to the source of the problem & work towards healing.

Proper nutrition is critical for all metabolic functions in the body including immune strength, so if your dog or cat suffers from a common health condition such as food sensitivities,  joint issues, hair loss or skin irritations, acid reflux, reoccurring ear infections, diarrhea or vomiting, we can help you get them back on the path to better health with proper diet  & supplemental recommendations.

COST: $85

In order to achieve optimal health dogs must consume the food they were built to eat, but making a carnivore diet can be intimidating and if done incorrectly, can lead to health issues. We'll spend time together, learning the important components of a biologically appropriate diet & formulating a complete and balanced meal specific to your dog’s individual needs.

This class includes instructions to create a balanced diet from foods you can purchase at your local grocery store, as well as tips & tricks to make the process easier. It's an opportunity to get all your questions answered and address all your concerns. Everything you ever wanted to know about making a raw diet, and more!

Classes are on Zoom every 3rd Sunday each month at 11 am.
Zoom details will be emailed after registration.

COST: $80*

It can be a scary and upsetting time when your dog is diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Nutritional interventions can give your dog the best chance for improvement or recovery & may reduce the need for chronic medications that have debilitating side effects or work alongside medications to reduce the amount needed and improve blood work. A diet formulated  for your dog’s specific needs will help them begin their journey back to optimal health. If your dog or cat suffers from a life altering health condition such as, severe skin issues, cancer, kidney or Liver disease, diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, thyroid conditions, or pancreatitis, we can help you get them back on the path to better health with proper diet & supplemental recommendations. Recent Blood work, diagnostics and a validated diagnosis are required for an accurate therapeutic diet formulation.
